NATASHA JACKA – WINEMAKER
After finishing school I travelled to France, Italy, Spain and New Zealand before returning to South Africa having made the decision to attend culinary school. I attended Silwood School of Cookery and graduated at the top of my class. I worked at numerous fine dining restaurants in Cape Town which led to my developing an interest in wine.
This interest grew and in 2017 I became a part of the harvest team at Cape Point Vineyards in Noordhoek. I worked closely with winemaker Riandri Visser and I was so exhilarated by the harvest experience that I continued to work at Cape Point Vineyards for the rest of the year. This also allowed me to learn extensively about the vineyards and I was able to observe the entire process from grape to bottle. The following year I enrolled at Elsenburg Agricultural College. I obtained my degree in Oenology under the guidance of Lorraine Geldenhuys, graduating at the top of my class in 2020. In 2021 I began Alinea.
